PowerTome X & XL Ultramicrotome

PowerTome X and XL Ultramicrotome

These ultramicrotomes use patented Power Drive technology. When gravity fails, the powered cutting stroke has enough strength to cut through even hard, non-homogenous specimens.

PowerTome X & XL Ultramicrotome

For the preparation of thin sections for electron microscopy, the RMC line of ultramicrotomes has the longest pedigree in the industry. When they became a part of Boeckeler Instruments, a company with over 60 years experience manufacturing precision instrumentation, the stage was set to raise the bar on an already excellent product. The results are excellent.

Smooth . . .

RMC have designed a new cutting engine with exceptional levels of precision tolerance. This design reduces "play" between the parts of the engine to a minimum, virtually eliminating section chatter and susceptibility to external vibration.

Powerful . . .

These are the only ultramicrotomes with the patented Power Drive® technology. When gravity fails, the powered cutting stroke has enough strength to cut through even hard, non-homogenous specimens.

    HPM 010 High Pressure Freezer

High Pressure Freezing is the only method that allows vitrification of samples upto 1mm3. The HPF method uses LN2 under high pressure (2100 bar).  At this pressure water is 1500 times more viscous than at atmospheric pressure which drastically reduces crystal growth.

    EMP-5160 Automatic Tissue Processor

    EMP-5160 Automatic Tissue Processor

Automates routine EM-sample fixation and embedding, freeing up valuable laboratory time. The advanced design is suited for resin processing of light and electron microscopy specimens.

The EMP 5160 is a productivity tool for the Electron Microscopy Laboratory. If you are embedding three or more times per week you cannot afford to process by hand. The EMP 5160 uses a proven robotics system to move baskets of tissue from one vial to another and agitates at the time and force you program, at the temperature you desire.

    • Sealed Vials for operator safety, the vials can all be loaded in a hood and the EMP5160 operated in an open room. Transfer of the vials does not expose the operator to fumes as other units do.
    • Programming is done via detachable hand held keypad. When you have finished programming the programming unit is locked away to prevent tampering or accidental changing of a protocol.
    • Frugal! Can use just a couple of millilitres of fluid for one sample up to 18ml for a full load (up to 48 sample compartments).
    • Two proven sample handling systems, either the traditional snap rings with removable screens or the multi-compartment baskets. Either type has all tools included.
